As was discussed last week, our colon health is paramount to our total wellbeing. CLICK HERE if you missed that post. The colon, large intestine or bowel is located in the abdomen and forms the last part of our digestive tract.
Our diet among other factors can affect our overall health. Colonics or colon irrigation/hydrotherapy can aid us in this regard.
During a colon cleanse, large amounts of water — sometimes up to 16 gallons (about 60 liters) — and possibly other substances, such as herbs or coffee, are flushed through the colon. This is done using a tube that's inserted into the rectum. In some cases, smaller amounts of water are used and are left to sit in the colon for a short time before being removed.
Proponents/promoters of colon cleansing believe that toxins from our gastrointestinal tract can cause a variety of health problems, such as arthritis, allergies, diseased anatomy, autoimmune states, and asthma. The belief is that colon cleansing improves health by removing toxins, boosting energy and enhancing the immune system. Some have debated that, there's no evidence that colon cleansing produces these effects. I however, can do nothing but STRONGLY disagree. It is believed that enemas are the predecessors to modern day colonic irrigation using state of the art hydrotherapy equipment.
The therapeutic effects of   hydrotherapy are:
·         Improved Digestion
·         Increased Beneficial Bacteria Flora
·         Strengthened Immune System.
Now, these things, among other benefits can and have been tested. And therefore refutation of its ineffectiveness to health becomes void.

There are numerous cases of mucoid plaque removal after a series of hydrotherapy sessions. Cancer survivors whom incorporated this as part of their treatment regimen found it most effective, particularly in an endeavour to reduce acidity in the body. Assuredly, these protocols must be supervised by a trained professional.
Let us also not forget that there are more neurons in our gut than there are in our brains. One of the very reasons to ascribe to the fact that overall health is correlated to our gut health. Stimulating our ‘second brain’, with a healthy environ and beneficial gut flora only enhances our overall health when incorporated as part of a lifestyle and protocols which are geared towards a healthy mind, body, soul, spirit etc.
A Colonic should never be confused with an enema, Both are methods used to flush waste from the colon via water introduced into the rectum. Both can be highly effective in stimulating the colon to eliminate putrefactive waste from the body. However, there are notable differences between the two. The primary differences being as follows:

·Colonics tend to be more soothing and thorough, and less inconvenient – not often performed at home however.
·Colonics provide far more exercise for the colon.
·Colonics provide a cleansing action beyond the 8/10 inch length which enemas do.
These things in mind, why not talk with a healthcare professional,  registered iī this area, find a recommended Acidophilus, make an appointment and start on a protocol to improved health!
