Top 9 Kitchen Gadgets Every Vegan Needs

Image
One of the easiest ways to adopt a healthy lifestyle is to throw yourself into it. When it comes to becoming a vegan the best thing to do is to start cooking for yourself, but doing so can be challenging for those who don’t have the proper kitchen tools. But as a vegan, what tools do you need? These are my cannot live without kitchen gadgets for a vegan lifestyle. 1. Juicer A juicer can be super handy for many reasons. If you are like me and you bought all of those bargain bin oranges (even though you knew it would be physically impossible to eat them all before they turned over to the dark side) and now you need them gone, this is the time for a juicer. One of my favorite things to do is add a bit of fresh juice to a smoothie instead of water or almond milk (seriously YUMM). 2. Vegetable Slicer Honestly, I am chopping ALL OF THE TIME. Owning one of these has been a LIFESAVER. I like to do all of my meal prepping at the start of the week and cook from that. This coo...

Hi everyone! We have had a very exciting week here at the Smoothie Vegetarians headquarters! Not only do we have a few very exciting things we are working on for you guys, we also added two new faces to our team of writers! If you are interested in learning more about them, click on about us and everyone has a little section about them! Today's post is a yummy treat! Avocado pudding can sound a little off-putting at first. For me, I always say avocado as a savory food and it would stress me out a bit when someone put it in a sweet dish. Since then I have learned so much about avocados and food. I now have avocado with sweet foods every few days between smoothies, popsicles, and vegan pudding! If you have never tried it, I really suggest you do! Avocado gives everything it is added to this delicious smoothness and the fattiness makes desserts have that rich texture we are used to! My inspiration for this recipe was my Step-Grandmothers chocolate mouse. It was...

Recipe!! Cucumber & Avocado Sandwich

Image
Hey, everyone! Today's recipe is a recipe for Cucumber and Avacado sandwich spread. This has been a favorite of mine this summer. It is super easy to make and it can be made in bulk! I have made it to store in the fridge for easy lunches during the week and I made a tub for a road trip! If you are looking for something a bit more hearty, adding our Bacon Mushrooms on top complements it perfectly! You can store this for about a week in the refrigerator, just keep in mind that the cucumbers will kick out liquid as the sit. You may want to make your recipe with a bit less lemon juice and apple cider vinegar if you plan on storing it in the refrigerator. Happy Cooking! ~Stella~ If you use this recipe or even put your own spin on it take a picture and tag us in it on  Facebook at  The Smoothie Vegetarians , or tag us on Instagram  @smoothievegetarians  or Twitter  @smoothievegies ! My family LOVES to have cookouts during this time of year. Something about getting together on the porch and enjoying food together while the dogs play is just so wonderful! Just because I am now a vegan, does not mean I can not enjoy these things with my families. I enjoy taking traditional favorites and throwing a vegan spin on them. In today's post, I am going to share my spin a potato salad. This potato salad is avocado based instead of being mayo based.  With this recipe, I tried to keep it as close to the traditional recipe as possible. I just do not like the options for vegan mayo, so instead this recipe is avocado based. It was super fun and yummy to make. I throw all of the ingredients into a blender and it is creamy perfection. I hope all of you are having a wonderful summer! Happy cooking! ~Stella~ Vegan Potato Salad Recipe Makes 4-6 servings 5 potatoes 2 avocados 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar Juice from...

Recipe!! Avocado Pasta Salad

I am not a really big sports fan, however, I always look forward to Super Bowl Sunday! This is not because of the big game or the funny commercial.  No, it is because right before Super Bowl Sunday avocados and tomatoes go on sale! Avocado and tomato are the two main ingredients for this delicious pasta salad. Growing up, I used to love my Mothers Pasta Salad. Since I transitioned to a plant based diet I have had a hard time finding substitutes for the mayonnaise. I tried vegan mayonnaise and hated it! I do not the chemical taste of miracle whip so I was left in a bind. One day I decided to try masking it using avocados, I had seen other examples where people used it as a mayonnaise replacement and thought it was worth a shot/ Boy was I right! It was delicious and creamy. It was perfect and just right!  After a few times of making this recipe, I had perfected it! Check it out below. Happy cooking! ~Stella~ ...
