Recipe!! Tahini

Image
As a part of my Zero Waste Journey, I have been trying to reduce the number of things I need to purchase premade. MY goal is to either purchase them in a glass container that can be reused or recycles. The other option is to make it myself! Most of the options for tahini are either sold in plastic containers or are extremely expensive. So then I decided to learn to make it by myself. If I was being honest, tahini is a huge staple in my diet. I use it at least once a day. Between salad dressings, hummus, and a verity of other dishes I go through a ton of it. To my surprise, it was actually really easy to make. Tahini is essentially a sesame seed paste. Sesame seeds can be easily purchased in the bulk section at your local grocery store.  If you tried this recipe and loved it or have a suggestion for improvements, let me know in the comments below! Happy cooking! ~Stella~ Tahini Recipe Makes 3 cups 4 cups sesame seeds 1/2 cup vegetable oil ...

D.I.Y. Face Oil for Oily Skin

Image
When I was younger I thought the best way to combat my oily skin was simply by not applying a moisturizer. I would dry out my face with cleansers thinking that was going to get me the results I wanted. I always felt I couldn’t wear actual makeup because my skin was so oily. Now, as an adult, I realize I was making my face produce more oil. When the skin is dried out it overproduces oil to help – exactly what I didn’t want. But I was still struggling with oily skin even though I started toning and moisturizing. What was I to do? The key is to finding the right products and fighting oil with oil. What? Why would you use oil to combat oil? Your skin produces oil for many reasons. One reason is because your cleanser and toner are taking away too much oil so it helps by making more. By adding more oils, the right kind of oils, back into the skin then your skin will be at a healthy level. The best thing I have found is making my own face oil. I use this after I wa...

How To Effectively Sustain Weight Loss on a Raw Vegan Lifestyle

Image
Although it may appear as if I have written on this topic before, this is not quite the case. Now, my view on a healthy diet is none other than the Raw Vegan one. As such, my focus is always on same. The Raw Vegan Lifestyle is not only effective in aiding, enhancing health, but it is a compilation and composition of many facets which work together for an overall benefit of the human anatomy. If we know that fat cells store toxins, any excess body fat is an indicator of things not operating efficiently. A diet of raw fruits and vegetables, moderately low in fats and proteins most often contribute to a healthy body. This, however is not enough to gain, claim and sustain truly healthful living. A few KEY  components would include, but are not be limited to the following: 1. Daily Movement ~ Movement in the form of exercise daily is essential, particularly exercise( cardio) which ensures movement of the lymphatic system to aid flushing of internal...

Save the Bees! Plant A Bee Friendly Garden

Image
Hey guys! Today I wanted to talk about a topic that has not been covered too much on this blog at this point. Today, I wanted to talk about Bee Gardens! As we all know at this point, Bees are in danger of completely disappearing from this plant. They are very important for how plants pollinate, so it is very important they stick around! There are a few different things we can do to help. -Stop killing bees and their homes when we see them around. Instead, call a local bee keeper to come and rehome the bees.  -Don't use chemicals in your lawn and garden -Buy from local farmers -If you are going to buy honey, buy local honey -Plant a bee garden In this post. I want to considerate specifically on planting a bee garden and what plants would be awesome to include. My Vegan Beauty Bag: Products That Don't Test on Animals.

Image
Hello, everyone! It has been a while since I have posted, but I assure you that I am alive and well (and yes, have only lost 20 pounds so far, I've had some off days-okay?)  Today I am focusing on reviewing some of the vegan beauty products that I have in my little bag of wonders, and some of the things I would like to buy, and a list of makeup companies that do NOT test on animals (and some that do) With that being said, I'd like to start with my favourite product (and what I have the most of) Lipsticks!  Pictured above are *some* of my MILANI lipsticks, MILANI does NOT test on animals, they are PETA approved! (http://www.peta.org/living/beauty/these-companies-dont-test-on-animals/) Below are pictures of the names of the above lipsticks in case you wanna buy the shades yourself! ;) I accidently left two out!!! Here they are! (pesky things were hiding at the bottom of my bag!) Another cruelty-free brand that I absolutely LOV...

Recipe!! Portobello Mushroom "Bacon"

Image
Hey guys! Today, I thought I would share my favorite vegan bacon recipe. Mushrooms are already one of my all-time favorite vegetables. I will cook it and add it to just about anything. Every time I have a conversation with someone about being a Vegetarian, they always say  "Oh, I could never live without bacon!" This is my answer to them! When I first cut meat out of my diet, I cut it completely out. I did not even eat "fake" meat like Morning Star. I also did not eat anything like this, something that was meant to replace the meat I was cutting out. I found that this helped me not have as many cravings. The first few days were really rough but after that I loved the way my new plant based diet made me feel. I have just recently started branching out into the "fake" meat world. I have tried many different "fake" bacon recipes and this one is my favorite! Happy cooking! ~Stella~ Portobello Baco...
