Cruelty Free Morning Routine Products!

Image
One of the biggest unexpected pains of going vegan was replacing all of my beauty and hygiene products. It never ever crossed my mind, previous to going vegan, that there were items that included animal products. First, let's talk about the difference between cruelty-free and vegan. Sometimes people think they are the same thing, but they are not. An item can be cruelty-free but not vegan. However, for a product to be truly vegan, it would be cruelty-free. Cruelty-free means the product or the ingredients used to make the products were not tested on animals. Some companies have labs where they keep animals like bunnies, rats, cats, dogs, ect to test new products on to see if there are any negative reactions. These animals have a terrible quality of life, some of them have not ever seen the light of day. A person who is vegan, does not consume, use or wear any items that came from, are byproducts of, or harm animals. There is tons of debate ab...

Turmeric Toothpaste

Can’t stand overpowering flavor? Freaked out by Fluoride? Experience gum irritation? Aren’t afraid of staining a toothbrush yellow? If you’ve answered ‘yes’ to the above questions, I would suggest trying this turmeric toothpaste! I began seeking at-home toothpaste alternatives when my son started brushing his teeth. Mine? Whatever . His? PRECIOUS. Never having been accustom to store-bought toothpaste, he didn’t wonder why it was yellow or thought it was unusual that he had to shake it. He begrudgingly brushes his teeth just like the kids who use Crest. I also really enjoy not spending $12 a tube for toothpaste without fluoride. Not to mention what a relief is it to brush my teeth before and/or after coffee without the two flavors mixing badly—the mint flavor is only as strong as you make it! Last but not least, I get to mix a little potion! Even if you don’t answer ‘yes’ to the above questions, this recipe is seriously cheap and effective. Why not give it a spin? E...

Zero Waste Toothpaste

The last couple of years I heard a lot about oil pulling and the benefits of pulling for your oil hygiene. Oil pulling can be good for your overall health as well. I have always wanted to try it but it seemed very daunting to swish coconut oil for 20 minutes. I don’t have 20 minutes in my day to give my mouth that kind of workout. I wanted to find a better way. I have always had a terrible time with my teeth. I brush them everyday and floss most days but no matter what I always ended up with cavities. My teeth are straight but over the years have yellowed. I actually really like my teeth so the yellowing, while insignificant in the scheme of life, made me very self-conscious. I wanted to find a way to improve my oral health and take care of the yellowing. When I was looking online for ideas I stumbled on a Facebook page about zero waste. It was there that they talked about the blog Trash is for Tossers. Lauren, the zero waste queen, had a recipe for toothpaste using a ...

How to Embark on a Toxic Free Personal Care Routine

Image
I like to advise people on healthier options to partake of in their lives, one such area to jump start this process is that of personal care and products involved therein. I generally no longer purchase commercial care products mentioned here. In this toxic world we live, there are many reasons to avoid as best as possible, all contaminants that which we are exposed to. The body stores toxins in fat cells, at their point of saturation, the environs are at threat to acidity, leading to a condition called acidosis, which is  precursor  to several diseases: Heart,  Strokes, Cancer, Diabetes to name  a few of the  life-threatening ones are the most prevalent and ones which can undoubtedly be avoided.  It is in OUR  best interest to keep our products used daily, frequently and even from time to time as ' clean ' as possible. Our water, food, and air are main contributors to anatomical contamination; the mobile phones and television sets ...
