Pizza on a Plant Based Lifestyle (Part 1)

Image
(photos by Danielle) Many people think that if you transition to a healthier, more ethical lifestyle that it means that you also have to give up certain foods and sacrifice taste. However, for a lot of the excuse that people give...there are just as many easy solutions that can be solved in a matter of seconds. When a lot of people hear “pizza” one of the first things people usually think of is cheese. However, you do not actually have to give that up because there are so many alternatives. Many places are starting to offer dairy free options and stores are starting to get plant based options that taste like cheese. There is no sacrifice whatsoever to this lifestyle and it will just continue to become easier and easier as it goes on. So many people are lactose intolerant, have allergies, or choose to cut our dairy for health or ethical reasons. Fortunately, you can still have cheese without it coming from a cow, and yes, it tastes just fine and usually exactly the same. ...

Plant Based Holiday Dinner

Image
Over the holidays, people struggle with many things. One of them being staying healthy with so much buffet style food at gatherings. Other people may deal with challenges as well. For myself, I sometimes take for granted having such a supportive family when others do not. I want to extend my love and positivity to those who need that, especially over the time of the holidays. A lot of people in my family know that the choices I am making are helping and have reversed what I was dealing with health wise. I feel amazing now and the other people in my life notice how much better they feel when they try my cooking. I do not mind sharing because I am so open to showing people anything if they have any questions and I love helping others. I also love hearing about how much better people feel when they tell me they try a recipe or food that I have recommended. A lot of people in my family are open to trying these dishes even if they do not plan on making a transition to a vegan, veg...

Plant Based Nacho Recipes

Image
I have always been such a huge fan of incredibly spicy food and my love for it has grown since I have started cooking. I love making nachos and other meals that are foods similar to that. Since I have been off between college semesters, I have had some extra time in my day to cook before or after work. Another thing that a lot of people have commented on in the past is that that cannot handle spicy food, so if you want something milder, you can use a less spicy version of the ingredients. For example, if you get a can of chili, you can get mild instead of medium or spicy. This first picture I have tortilla chips topped with the beefless ground from Gardein. I have had ground walnut with spices as well at a restaurant and that is wonderful as well if you want a healthier spin on the meal. I have some veggies I have on there as well. Usually, I top my nachos with tomato salsa, bell peppers of any color, and onions. If you want beans for extra nutrients, you can also add those. For the ...

The Easy "How To of Veganism"

Image
What is the equation for veganism? Is there one? Absolutely! So, not a Math problem? Well, it may be more of one than you think! I refer to the solution to many things as that of Veganism, the destruction of the environment, human health, animal life, the high incidents of PTSD found amongst factory farm employees to name a few. So, how do we become part of this Veganism solution? Let us have a look. . . 1.       Start slowly : Some people transition well with the ‘ cold turkey ‘ way of doing things, but statistics show that for long-term/sustainable lifestyle changes, the majority fare far better with gradual changes, that said, I highly recommend the ‘go at your pace’ approach, or simply ‘take it slowly’. What is most comfortable for you will work best for you. 2.       Fraternize with like eaters who have succeeded - Real life support : Food is often part of social events, and many new vegans feel is...

Recipe!! Vegan Tomato Sauce & Pasta With Sauteed Mushrooms

Image
Hello, everyone! I was sitting in my kitchen the other day and thinking if I could share just one recipe, what would it be? I chose this one because it is so easy and flexible! I make this meal in around 10 minutes and it tastes absolutely wonderful! It is flexible because you can use any vegetable in it. For example, if you do not have mushrooms but you have green beans, you can use those instead! This is your standard tomato sauce recipe, it is very light but flavorful. You can add depth to it by your seasoning choices. In this recipe, I used Italian seasonings. I could have added cumin and chili powder to have more of a Mexican flavor. In a recipe like this, it is all about the seasonings. That is what makes it so great and flexible. If you make this recipe or a version of it, we want to see it!
